Now is an exciting time to join Chelton as we evolve the products and services we can offer our aerospace and defence customers. If you're creative in your thinking and problem solving and passionate to make a difference in your role, we want to hear from you.
As a well-established company with a proven track record of innovation and engineering excellence, we can offer stimulating opportunities to talented and enthusiastic individuals. We are equally committed to supporting your development aspirations as well as finding the perfect fit in our organisation.
In this permanent engineering role you will be based in either one of our three Business Units or within our Major Programmes function. However, to provide you with broad experience, your first two years will consist of 6 month placements in each of the business units, providing unique exposure to the breadth of the business, before returning to your permanent position.
During your journey we will take your specific engineering interests into consideration to tailor the rotations to both your needs and those of the business.
By gaining hands-on experience, you will benefit from learning the many valuable skills you'll need to become a successful engineer with Chelton!
We offer opportunities for growth and career progression in a variety of areas, creating individually tailored development plans. We are committed in supporting your journey to achieve industry recognised accreditations and have a dedicated generous annual engineering training budget.
No two days are alike. You may be involved at any stage of a project; one day on the initial brief for a concept, the design and development stage and another day on the testing of prototypes and the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system. One aspect will remain a constant, you'll work in project teams with colleagues in other engineering disciplines and learn from their expertise.
We are recruiting for a number of entry level roles to work in one of our business units; Antennas, Avionics, Land or our Major Programmes function.
To be successful at Chelton, you will need to display true resilience, an inquisitive nature and initiative whilst having the ability and desire to build technical knowledge in your role.
We are open to students with an interest and aptitude for a range of engineering disciplines, in particular software and electronics, and, of equal importance, a willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative and supportive workplace.
We welcome applications from recent graduates with or without work experience and mature students from all universities, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM subject area and a particular interest in software and/or electronics.
All roles require basic security clearance and working in some areas within our business may require additional clearance.
Daisy Ashworth | Project Engineer
“Doing rotations has given me exposure to all areas of the business. This is particularly beneficial for somebody like myself, who came in undecided on which stream of engineering to specialise in. Each rotation has provided me with new challenges and experiences which are invaluable for a junior engineer. I now have a great knowledge of the Chelton product catalogue and internal processes, as well as a deeper understanding of many different engineering principles.”
Max Dickson | Antenna Design Engineer
"I’ve found working in a smaller aerospace company like Chelton to be really beneficial! The close-knit environment has allowed me to build meaningful relationships across various departments, and closer access to management means that guidance is never far away. I find my role and contributions to be both significant and valued, whilst my personal development is afforded due attention and taken seriously."
Vladimir Krasnojon | Mechanical Engineer
"As a Mechanical Engineer, Chelton has given me a fantastic environment in which to hone my skills and learn from the best without any of the usual corporate pressure! Every new project is an opportunity to learn new skills, build relationships and solve challenging problems with freedom to be creative. I have been involved in all stages of the design process taking my ideas from concepts to 3D-printed models and all the way to production units and environmental testing. It is hugely satisfying to see your design work in the metal and I’ve found it to be the most rewarding aspect of engineering."
